The effect of including the cracked core on the analysis results of a beam on Vlasov foundation model is investigated. It is found that the analysis model neglecting the cracked core provides accurate results, but the model including the cracked core provides excessively stiff solutions. Including the cracked core in addition to the assumption that the in-plane displacement in the core is fixed to zero may give excessively stiff conditions. Therefore, it is advisable to ignore the cracked core when using the beam on Vlasov foundation model to analyze sandwich SCB test specimens.
