Diamond wire tools are widely used in cutting hard and brittle materials such as silicon, sapphire, etc. However, low production efficiency of diamond wire tools causes their high cost. To solve the problem, a drum-type equipment for manufacturing electroplated diamond wire tools was developed. Multi diamond wire tools could be manufactured simultaneously at high speed by the equipment. The characteristics for plating wire of the equipment were evaluated. Composite electroplating experiments were carried out for examining the abrasive distribution on the wire tools. Additionally, the cutting properties of pre-production wire tools are equivalent to the commercially available wire tools.
