Toshiya NAKAMURA is Professor of International Relations and Executive Director of the Global Media Research Center (GMRC) at the Graduate School of Informatics of Nagoya University, Japan. His main research interests are foreign and security policies of Japan and Germany as well as the role of national images in international relations. Recent publications include 'German Security Policy: Pacifism and the Use of Force' (Ichigeisha, 2006) and 'Japan's changing security policy and the 'Dynamic Defence Concept' in Power Transition an International Order in Asia: Issues and Challenges (Routledge, 2013). He actively participates in policy forums and was a visiting scholar at the Research Institute for Peace and Security (RIPS) in Tokyo.
