In this paper, we report the outcomes of the Study Group of Regional Archives, as one of St. Andrews' community collaborative research projects since 2006, and discuss future challenges. First, we discuss problems faced by the Archives of Osaka Prefecture and Osaka City which have greatly attracted attention in recent years. These Two archives were established by influence of Historical Science Society in Osaka and other organizations in the mid-1980s, and this has achieved a certain result. However, situation has gotten worse in the past several years for reasons of financial difficulty and poor name recognition. Specifically, in the Archives of Osaka Prefecture, a problem occurred with the integration and transfer to the main government buildings at Otemae. In addition, due to budget cuts, the problem of leaving all management to part-time personnel has arisen in the Archives of Osaka City.
