Profile

Our lab has been developing new technologies for environmental DNA analysis which started in 2009. The technology, which enables you to estimate the species living around the target sites by collecting DNA flowing in water derived from large aquatic organisms such as fish, is now getting popular not only in the academic field but also in the field of environmental conservation and fishery resource management. While promoting the refinement and development of basic technology, we are actively promoting the social implementation of technology through joint research with local governments and companies.

REC (Ryukoku Extention Center), a center of industry-academia collaboration at Ryukoku University, regularly organizes study meeting with private companies to facilitate the social implementation by suggesting technology seeds, while newly established Research Center for Biodiversity Science at our University has begun activities as a hub for joint researches for the social implementation as well. Our laboratory fully supports these activities from the technical aspect.
