白亜紀には、世界中の海洋が同時期に無酸素化した海洋無酸素事変(OAE)が数回起こったと考えられている。本研究では、南東フランスのボコンチアン堆積盆におけるOAE1aおよびOAE1bの黒色頁岩試料を用いてバイオマーカー分析を行った。OAE1aではシアノバクテリア由来の2-メチルホパンが顕著に検出され、その濃度が上位に向かって増加する傾向が見られた。これは、海洋の無酸素化に伴う脱窒や嫌気的メタン酸化の活発化によってシアノバクテリアが卓越しやすい環境が形成されたことに起因する可能性が考えられる。...

Sep 2011   Expedition 320,321による新生代以降の赤道太平洋の古環境・古気候の変遷の解明
IODP Expedition 320/321で行われたPEAT (Pacific Equatorial Age Transect)航海で,赤道太平洋の8地点(U1331からU1338)から掘削された堆積物を用いて,始新世中期以降の赤道太平洋の古海洋・古気候の変遷を明らかにし,新生代の気候システムがどのように形成されたかを考察する.
