Profile

Kazuhisa Sato received his Ph.D degree in Materials Science from Osaka University, Japan (2005). He was a member of the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research (ISIR), Osaka University (1999-2007). He spent 1 year at UIUC as a visiting scholar (July 2006-August 2007, c/o Prof. J. M. Zuo). Then he moved to the Institute for Materials Research (IMR) at Tohoku University, Japan and stayed there until September 2015. Now he is a member of the Research Center for Ultra-High Voltage Electron Microscopy, Osaka University as an Associate Professor (October 2015–present). His research activities focus on atomic structure and phase transition of magnetic nanoparticles and several nonferrous nanostructured materials by means of advanced electron microscopy techniques, including HVEM, AC-STEM/TEM, 3D-ET, low-voltage SEM/(S)TEM, and image simulations. He is the author of 120 refereed papers. His honors include the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials Murakami Young Researcher Award (2013), the Young Researcher Award (Materials Science) from the Japanese Society of Microscopy (2012), and the Young Researcher Award (Metal Physics) from the Japan Institute of Metals (2004).
