文部科学省科学技術振興調整費の知的基盤整備推進事業の研究テーマとして、平成11年度から5年計画で実施した「機能性分子による熱流体センシング技術の研究開発(通称:MOSAICプロジェクト)」が、2004年3月末をもって終了したことを受けて、本プロジェクトの成果を世界に発信し、化学、光計測、流体分野の学際研究の輪を世界に拡張するため国際ワークショップを開催する。米国ワシントン大学理学部化学科のガマル・カリル教授、ベンチャー企業ISSI代表ラリー・ゴス博士ら、この分野の世界的な権威者を招へいし、機能性分子センサー技術の現状と将来の方向について議論する。会議は、基調講演、招待講演、ポスターセッション、機器展示、およびパネルディスカッションからなり、異分野の研究者の自由な討論を重視した構成とする。会議後に、成果発表と議論の結果をまとめた会議録を出版する。
Apr 1999   機能性分子による熱流体センシング技術の研究開発
超高速流、超低温流、超希薄流など、従来の方法では計測が困難な極限環境における熱流体現象を解明するため、光機能性分子を利用して、圧力、温度、気体組成などの流体変数を光学的に計測する新しい概念の熱流体センシングの基盤的研究を行う。熱流体力学、機能性化学、光電子工学、画像情報解析の異なる四分野の専門家が有機的に連携して、機能性分子の薄膜をセンサプローブとして用い、空間的・時間的に変動する流れ場を光学画像としてとらえる可視化技術を開発する。多様な熱流体環境で機能するセンサ分子をデータベース化することによって、極限環境における熱流体現象を解明するための知的基盤の整備に資する
