The hydrogen electrode behavior was investigated in three kinds of molten alkali chlorides, LiCl-KCl, LiCl-CsCl, and LiCl-KCl-CsCl, using potential sweep and ac impedance methods. It was found that hydrogen absorbed in the metal electrode significantly affects the voltammogram and impedance. Thus, the hydrogen reduction mechanism has been clarified by taking into account the absorbed hydrogen in the metal. The solubility of hydrogen in Fe and Ni electrode were determined from the impedance plot, and were found in good agreement with the values previously measured by another method.
