笠原 正典

Prof. Kasahara received his M.D. and Ph.D. from Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan. He conducted postdoctoral research under Prof. Jan Klein at the Max Planck Institute for Biology in Germany, where he studied the genetics of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC). His research interests include the role of the MHC in health and disease, as well as the genetics and evolution of the immune system. He has held professorial positions at the Graduate University for Advanced Studies and later at Hokkaido University. Prof. Kasahara served as Dean of the School of Medicine at Hokkaido University from 2013 to 2017, and subsequently as Executive Vice President of Hokkaido University from 2017 to 2020.
