Prof. Kasahara received his M.D. and Ph.D. from Hokkaido University, Japan, where he is currently Executive Vice President. He was a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Jan Klein at the Max Planck Institute for Biology, Germany, where he studied genetics of the MHC. His research interests include the role of the MHC in health and disease, as well as the genetics and evolution of the immune system. Prof. Kasahara served as dean of the School of Medicine from 2013 to 2017.
