© 2019 Antenna Branch of Chinese Institute of Electronics. A wireless power transfer (WPT) technology is expected to be applied to powering electric vehicles in the kHz band. The specific absorption rate or SAR may be used as a metric to ensure the safety of WPT devices. In order to measure the specific absorption rate, it is necessary to calibrate the electric field probe, that is, to relate the received electric field intensity with the output voltage of the probe. In this paper, we theoretically and experimentally verify that the electric-field probe calibration method we developed in the MHz band can be applied to the kHz band as well.
