This paper treats the description and analysis of impersonal constructions in Mongolian. The aims to be achieved are the following: 1) To discriminate between personal constructions and impersonal constructions by analyzing various subjectless sentences, which tend to be identified as one of typical forms of impersonality from the point of view of linguistic typology. 2) To consider what factors make the sentences personal or impersonal in terms of both forms and meanings. To show that, through the analysis and consideration, the distinction between personality and impersonality is not clear-cut, but vague and gradual; that they construct a scale of cline. All subjectless sentences, including a transitive type, a complex clause type and a bol-type, do not present impersonality. As well as that, all passive sentences do not indicate impersonal characteristics. The results demonstrate that impersonality does not consist in a certain construction, but pervades itself across several different constructions. They also reveal that personality and impersonality form a continuous scale of cline from more personal to less personal based on the semantic features, animacy and specificity.
