阿蘇4火砕噴火の前駆噴火である大峰火山噴火について,鉱物中のメルト包有物の化学組成を測定した.得られた組成を阿蘇4火砕流堆積物のサブユニットの軽石中の鉱物に含まれるメルト包有物組成と比較し,阿蘇4噴火直前のマグマ供給系について考察を行った.大峰スコリアのメルト包有物と阿蘇4メルト包有物とのトレンドの違いから,大峰火山の噴火が阿蘇4巨大マグマ溜まりとは異なった浅部マグマ供給系で独立して分化したことがわかった.

西南日本の海溝寄り地域には日本海拡大と西南日本弧の時計回り回転、およびそれに伴う熱い四国海盆の沈み込みとほぼ同時期に広範な火成活動がおこった。それらは従来その分布域から瀬戸内火山岩類、外帯花こう岩類に区分されている。これらの火成岩類の中の珪長質なメンバーについて日本原子力研究所のJRR-3原子炉において即発γ線分析を行い、そのホウ素含有量を求めたので報告する。そして他の微量元素組成との関係にもとづき、ホウ素含有量のバリエーションについて議論する。
