Mizukoshi advocates socio-media studies based on historical and social perspectives, rather than focused on information technology oriented ones. One of his primary research activities, undertaken with his colleagues, is the MELL Project (Media Expression, Learning and Literacy Project) : a practical group studies on citizen's media expression and media literacy, and its successive group: MELL Platz.

Brand new book is "Media Studies for the 21st Century" published in March 2011. All in Japanese.
In 2014, Mizukoshi has started to publish a magazine "5: Designing Media Ecology" with Osamu Sakura, Yoshitaka Mouri and other editorial members.
