Profile

Dr. Ioku is a professor in the Faculty of Economics, Keio University, Japan. He received a Doctoral degree in Science in Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1990. From 1989-1993 he worked as an assistant professor in the Faculty of Science at Kochi University. He was promoted to associate professor of the Faculty of Engineering (1993-2001), the Graduate School of Medicine (2001-2003) in Yamaguchi University, and the Graduate School of Environmental Studies in Tohoku University (2003-2006). Since 2006 he has held a professorial position at Tohoku University and then moved to Keio University from April, 2012.   
Dr. Ioku is an active member of several professional associations, including the Ceramic Society of Japan, the Materials Research Society of Japan, the Japanese Society for Biomaterials, the International Society for Ceramics in Medicine, and others. His scientific achievements have been distinguished by awards from the MRS International Meeting (1988); the Japanese Association of Inorganic Phosphorus Chemistry (1996; 2008); the Society of Inorganic Materials Japan (2000); the Asian BioCeramics Society (2005); the Ceramic Society of Japan (2009), and others. He has published around 300 peer-reviewed papers in the fields of materials science, medical science, and environmental science.
