A negative feedback semiconductor optical amplifier was realized in an InGaAsP-InP amplifier using a fiber Bragg grating based on a phase mask interferometer. The negative feedback effect recovers the signal loss to a higher definition and lower error probability. The optical amplifier with negative feedback provided an output signal whose gain and waveform was srabilized optically.
