Cutting fluids have a significant role in the improvement of machining technology extending the tool life or the improving of the finished surface integrity through the function of lubrication and cooling. Since there are many machining and cutting conditions, the evaluation method of the cutting fluids for every machining is not necessarily determined. It is necessary to investigate the most suitable evaluation methods considering tools, work materials, and cutting conditions. The reaming, especially, deals with cutting and burnishing simultaneously and needs a severe cutting performance. The cutting mechanism is so complicated that the method of evaluating the effect of the cutting fluids on the finished surface integrity is not easy. In this study, the examination was carried out to extract an optimum cutting fluid in reaming. That is, instead of reaming, the simple modeling test was established to experimentally investigate the effect of the cutting fluids on the cutting resistance and finished surface integrity. As a result, it was clarified that this simple modeling test was effective for the evaluation of the optimum cutting fluids in reaming.
