The motion of grain boundaries in CuGa2 under the influence of an electron beam was studied by in-situ transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The vibrational motion of grain boundaries was observed at any accelerating voltage between 200kV and 1000kV. However, it was diminished at above room temperature. The orientation relationships between the crystals on both sides of the grain boundaries were determined for the grain boundaries which showed the vibrational motion. It is inferred that point defects produced by electron irradiation are responsible for this phenomenon. A simple model that can explain the vibration of the grain boundary was proposed.
