高強度Mg合金Mg96Zn2Y2合金薄板を抵抗スポット溶接により接合した。市販のMg合金AZ31Bに比べ低い溶接電流で接合が可能であった。接合部では本合金に特徴的なLPSO相の他、LPSO相だけ溶融する部分溶融部が観察された。また、溶融部は母材に比べ、15%程度硬度が下がった。
