Second-harmonic generation (SHG) in ferroelectric liquid crystal with a twist defect is studied by de Vries' solution. It is shown that the width of the photonic band gap for the SH wave is an important factor to determine the saturation length. SHG is effectively enhanced by using narrow photonic band gaps.
