東日本大震災の被災地では、民俗芸能支援が過去に例がない規模で、多くの団体や組織・個人によってなされてきた。その被災状況は多様であり、支援も流失した道具や衣装を新調するためのものから、公演の依頼、映像による記録化など様々である。支援を通じて生まれた新たな関係を糸口に、後継者不足等の災害以前からの課題の打開策を探ろうとするなど、災害を契機に生じた民俗芸能が置かれた新たな状況について考察する。

2011年3月11日に発生した東日本大震災は、東北地方と関東地方の沿岸部を中心とする広い範囲に、現在に至るまで大きくかつ複雑な被害をもたらしている。被災地において少しずつ復興に向けた動きも現れてきているが、原発事故を含め、解決には程遠い問題も山積する。こうした影響はおそらく、これから数十年にわたって続いていくだろう。本分科会の目的は、この震災に対して人類学の立場からどのような関わりができるだろうかを考えることである。
