シリコンマイクロリング共振器を有するマッハ・ツェンダー干渉計型バイオセンサの高感度センシングを実験的に実証した論文である。マイクロリング共振器の位相変化増大効果とマッハ・ツェンダー干渉計の干渉効果の組み合わせにより,従来用いられてきたマイクロリング共振器単体よりも高感度なセンシングが可能であることを明らかにした。アビジン-ビオチン結合を用いたバイオセンシングを行い,20 pMの高感度タンパクシスセンシングに成功した。

InGaAs/InAlGaAsP五層非対称結合量子井戸をコア層とするマイクロリング共振器を両側アーム部に有するマッハ・ツェンダー光変調器を提案し,その設計と理論特性解析を行った。両アームにマイクロリング共振器を配置することで構造の対称性がよくなり,片側にのみリング共振器を用いた場合と比較して,非対称カプラが不要となるとともに,動作電圧も低減出来ることを明らかにした。動作電圧の低減化に加えて,10Gbps以上の高速動作も可能であることを理論的に示した。

化合物半導体マイクロリング共振器を用いた小型のTE/TM偏光スイッチを初めて提案した。マイクロリング部の光導波路には非対称導波路を用いて偏波回転を行うとともに,コア層の五層非対称結合量子井戸での偏光依存性を有する大きな電界誘起屈折率変化を用いて,偏光のスイッチングが可能であることを理論的に示した。
