Profile

Jungpil Shin received a B.A. in Computer Science and Statistics and an M.S. in Computer Science from Pusan National University, Korea in 1990 and 1994, respectively. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Communication Engineering from Kyushu University, Japan in 1999. He became an Associate Professor, Senior Associate Professor, and Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, the University of Aizu, Japan, in 1999, 2004, and 2019, respectively. His research interests include pattern recognition, character recognition, image processing, and computer vision. He is currently researching the following advanced fields: pen-based interaction system, real-time system, oriental character processing, computer education, human computer interaction, machine intelligence, and neurological disease analysis. He served several conferences as a program chair and program committee member for numerous international conferences and serves as a reviewer for several SCI major journals and an editor of journals. He is a member of IEEE, ACM, IEICE, IPSJ, KISS, and KIPS.
