Energy landscape of charge excitations in the boundary region between dimer–mott and charge ordered states in molecular solids

©2017 The Physical Society of Japan A possible theoretical scheme is proposed for the unified description of charge excitations with 10 10 orders of magnitude difference in energy [from optical (∼eV) down to dielectric anomalies (10 kHz ∼ 10− 10 eV)], based on a simple one-dimensional tight-binding model, which describes the boundary region between the dimer Mott (DM) and charge ordered (CO) states in 1=4-filled molecular solids. In this model, the DM state is apparently stable at high energy (temperature); however, the true ground state is the CO state with different charge disproportionation leading to domains of different charge polarities.
