<p>タンザニアのマハレで,チンパンジーが「対峙的屍肉食」をした事例を報告する。人類進化を考える上でかつて一世を風靡した「狩猟仮説」は,現在では「屍肉食仮説」に置き換わっている。初期人類が,屍肉食をしていただろうという点では概ね合意が得られているが,それが「消極的」だったのか「対峙的」だったのかについては,論争が続いている。前者は肉食獣が完全に放棄した後に骨髄などを利用していたとするもの,後者は肉食獣を追い払って獲物を奪っていたとするものである。こうした議論の中で現生類人猿が参照されること...
