Bio diesel fuel (BDF) is one of alternative fuel making mainly from vegetable oils and waste oil. Although BDF can be substituted for light oil, the low temperature flow property of BDF is a problem that demands a solution. Especially, BDF came from waste oil solidifies at about 0 °C because the BDF includes the saturated fatty acid ester with higher melting temperature. To demonstrate additive effect on solidifying temperature of BDF, pseudo-BDF mixed with oleic methyl ester and palmitic methyl ester was prepared and the cloud point and solidifying temperature of the pseudo-BDF were measured. Fourteen species of nonionic surfactants was used as model additives. CP of BDF depended on the melting point of additives. Additive with mono-palmitic, mono-stearic, and tri-stearic ester group lowered the solidifying temperature. The polyethylene chain of additive increased rather the cloud point. The bulky sorbitan group seemed to decrease the solidifying temperature.
