This study aims to identify the JFL students’ perceptions of Asia-Pacific War and distinguish how they reflect on the problems underlying social and individual discourses on the war after conducting a project 'Memories of War'. The data (students' essays) reveals that the students became more aware of the damages suffered by Japanese citizens as well as the multiplicity of victim-victimizer relationships among the Japanese. The study also showed that the students could reflect on the political influence in the history textbooks from both countries.
