Ryo Okubo

Ryo Okubo, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist. He completed his residency training of clinical psychiatry at the department of neuropsychiatry, Hokkaido University and has worked with adult, adolescents, and children across various setting, including inpatients and outpatients medical and rehabilitation units. He has received extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and provides supervision for medical staffs in training programs of CBT for depression.

In addition to his work as a clinician, Dr. Okubo has been involved in research and teaching. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Medicine from Hokkaido University Graduate School of Medicine. He was the recipient of Young Researcher program financed by Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) and worked for National Cancer Center Japan. The primary focus of his research has been on associations of health behavior including diet and exercise with psychiatric distress or disorders. He is currently a section chief, Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Translational Medical Center, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry, Tokyo, Japan. He consults on various topics regarding to clinical epidemiology.
