A fault detection system is designed to a process experimental system by using an adaptive observer. The adaptive observer consists of the unknown-input state observer, and a parameter adjusting law. The observer is used to identify the uncertainties in the method. A simulation result obtained to a water level control system is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed system.
