I am a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Exeter. I am currently working on the transnational knowledge transfer of autism-related knowledge in Japan. Autism was conceptualised in Euro-American countries, but I am interested in how the concept of autism and related knowledge such as therapies have been transferred into a different context such as Japan. I am collecting historical documents written in Japanese and oral histories (interview data) with Japanese practitioners to analyse the process by which autism-related knowledge was interpreted, transformed, and sometimes rejected by local actors.

I was educated and worked in Japan before I came to Exeter. I received B.A. in Social Sciences from Hitotsubashi University and M.A. in Sociology from the University of Tokyo. After completing a master's course, I worked as a business consultant at Roland Berger Tokyo Office, and as a data analyst at Recruit Ltd. in Tokyo. Although my current research approach is qualitative, I have R and Python skills and data analysis experience in the industry.
