In our super-aged society, particularly in Japan, the demand for end-of-life care at residential care facilities for the elderly is increasing. The purpose of this study was to identify the content of end-of-life care provided by non-medical care workers at elderly care facilities in Japan.Through content analysis of descriptions in 10 selected textbooks on end-of-life care at elderly care facilities, 1,718 types of content were extracted. These contents were classified into 3 top-level categories, 11 mid-level categories, 46 lower-level categories, and 184 basic categories.The content of end-of-life care provided by care workers included various topics within 184 categories.Many of the extracted topics such as“ physical care” and “daily-life care，”are ones that needed to be continually provided even before the terminal stage. Though it is necessary to provide attentions specific to the final stages of life, these results represent the key concept of end-of-life care at elderly car efacilities: death is a continuation of life.
