Seda Torisu obtained her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University in 2002 and 2005 respectively. She then continued her studies on Geotechnical Engineering at University of Tokyo as a Monbusho Scholar and gained her PhD degree in 2008. She briefly worked as a field engineer trainee with Schlumberger at South Sea of China. In 2009 she moved to ENPC to work as a post-doctoral researcher for a year, where she conducted the research on strain-rate behaviour of offshore marine sediments. Then she worked on Crossrail project with University of Cambridge, monitoring strain changes in 4 different shafts (Limmo, Stepney Green, Pudding Mill Lane, Paddington) during excavations by optical fibre instrumentation. Curently she is working as a geotechnical engineer, at Design Department1, Nuclear Facilities division of Obayashi Corporation.
