This paper describes a concept to perform parallel pseudo-dynamic testings remotely controlled among a number of experimental stations located at far distant to each other all over the world. The feasibility of such a remotely controlled parallel pseudo-dynamic testing is assessed by making use of a number of experimental stations controlled by their own computers connected to the local area network in the campus of Kyoto University and by an inter-university parallel computation through the Internet. The model structure used for a pseudo-dynamic test is a viaduct consisting of different types of piers, such as steel piers and concrete piers. It is demonstrated that dynamic interaction of such structures can be evaluated by using the proposed remotely controlled system and the system of parallel interactive computation is established between distant universities. Consequently, it may be expected that the proposed remotely controlled parallel testing system can incorporate many testing facilities in the world and it can be used for the evaluation of the response analysis of large structural systems.
