中国をおもなフィールドとして、芸能の教育人類学的研究、芸能の「わざ」の教授・学習研究、無形文化遺産の人類学的研究、教育的視点からのフィールドワーク論などをやっています。
近年は、人材育成やキャリア形成という経営学的な視点も活かして、日本の能楽や宝塚との比較研究も行っています。
もともと日本のフリースクールを含むオルタナティブ教育の研究をしていたので、国内外のオルタナティブな教育思想や教育実践にも関心があります。
認知科学的な視点から芸能の「わざ」の教授・学習研究をやってきましたが、現勤務校ではアクティブラーニングなども積極的に用いてきたので、教育工学的な学習研究にも関心があります。
中国本土、台湾、日本、欧米の演劇人類学と中国演劇研究の動向に関する研究もしています。

1. Teaching/learning process of performance-related skills and knowledge in Chinese traditional theater (and performing arts per se) from the viewpoints of educational anthropology, educational sociology, and cognitive science
2. Historical development of theater anthropology in China, Taiwan, Japan, and English-speaking countries
3. Fieldwork theories and techniques from the viewpoints of educational anthropology and cognitive science
4. Topics related to human resources management from the viewpoints of educational anthropology, management studies, and cognitive science
