タンパク質の動的構造と機能との相関解明を目指して,NMR，X線小角散乱，一分子FRETと数理モデルを用いた研究を行っている．特に，哺乳細胞中のタンパク質の50%を占める天然変性領域が持つ特異な機能制御機構の解明を中心に研究を進める．同時に，核内クロマチン構造・動態による遺伝情報制御機構の解明を目指して，電子顕微鏡による核内クロマチン立体構造解析技術の開発，共焦点顕微鏡による時分割像を使ったクロマチン動態解析，数理モデルによる核内クロマチン構造・動態の可視化に向けた研究も進める．
