Oct, 2012 - Oct, 2012拠点の災害リスクを定量的に計算することで適応的に情報喪失を最小化できる新規な高可用性ストレージを開発することで、災害時の半数の機器が損壊した場合でも残存機器内の情報から90%超の情報を迅速に回復できるしなやかなストレージ基盤技術を構築する。 また、同時並列化したデータ転送による高速・高機能性を実現し、高細精度映像のような昨今のストレージ系に求められる高速・大容量性を達成する。垂直磁気記録の実績を踏まえてディスク線密度を向上させるとともに複数トラックの並列読み書きによりストレージ機器自体を高速・高密度して次世代ハードディスク基盤技術として展開する。同時に、ストレージ機器間の通信経路をソフトウェアで適応的に制御する技術を用いて並列・高速化を達成する。
