ポット栽培した稲の根近傍における鉄の挙動を検討した。稲の生育前期では根の表面は茶色であったが、生育後期になるにつれ、土壌は黒色部分が増し、非晶質硫化鉄の沈殿が認められた。4回の試料採取時ごとの根の表面についた鉄の状態は次の通りであった。当栽培条件では、稲の生育に伴い、根表面近傍の鉄の状態がFe-Ca-P被覆物→非晶質硫化鉄、ビビアナイト、その他に変化すると見られた。
