The surfactant removal from titania/octadecylamine (ODA) hybrid spherical particles through a bake treatment, solvent-extraction or their combination was investigated. The particles after removing ODA via such approaches showed spherical shape with high specific surface area ranging from 145 to 345 m(2)/g and were found to be dispersible in phosphate buffered saline. The ODA removal processes clearly influenced the particle surface states, the crystallization degrees, and the dispersibility.
