社会学と人口学の視点から、人口移動と社会階層の関連について研究しています。特に、日本からの人口移動、日本への人口移動、日本国内で人口移動の三者を関連づけ、長期的なタイムスケールで研究をしたいと思っています。博士論文では明治・大正時代に日本からアメリカ本土に移住した人びとについて計量歴史社会学的なアプローチで研究をしていました。
