社会学と人口学の視点から、人口の国際移動と社会階層・社会移動を研究しています。日本からの移動人口、日本への移動人口、両方に関心を持っております。博士論文では明治・大正時代に日本からアメリカ本土に移住した人びとについて計量歴史社会学的なアプローチで研究をしていました。
