Tomohiko Kondo is Professor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Letters at Keio University, Japan. He studied Greek and Latin classics and philosophy at the University of Tokyo, where he received his PhD. His current research focuses on Hellenistic and Roman philosophy, and he has published articles and book chapters in Japanese and English on the Stoic, Platonic and Aristotelian traditions, including ‘Plato against Plato? He is also active in a collaborative project on the reception of Greek and Roman antiquity in Japan and served as co-editor, with Koji Tachibana, of Aristotle in Japan: Reception, Interpretation and Application (Routledge, 2025). He further contributed—jointly with other scholars—to making previously untranslated works available in Japanese, such as Alexander of Aphrodisias: On Fate (with Kazuki Sugiyama), Proclus: On Providence, Fate, and What Depends On Us (with Tazuko Tago), Proclus: Commentary on Plato’s Republic, Essays 1, 4, 8 and 9 (with Akira Kawashima, Aya Kitago, Yuma Takahashi and Takuya Nomura) and Musonius Rufus (with Ai Kawamoto, forthcoming).
