民間企業3年，工業高校の教員4年，国研21年5ヵ月（独法化後も含む）を経て現職。
学生時代は機械工学の材料力学の一分野であり応力の方に力点がある「熱応力」が主テーマであったが，一般的には先にキーワードとして出てくる「熱」の方が専門と思われ，国研では鋳物の熱処理の伝熱シミュレーションを単層。その後木材に触った時の温かみ「接触温冷感」の定量的な評価に取り組んでいる。
