This paper presents and verifies the numerical method to predict the lateral spreading of liquefied subsoil based on fluid dynamics. For this purpose, we use the fluid dynamic analysis code STREAM which incorporates the Bingham viscosity with the residual strength of liquefied subsoil. The numerical method is applied to the lateral spreading experiment with the shaking table and the inclined soil container. In this simulation, we determine the parameters for the Bingham model based on the results of several tests in which the coefficient of viscosity of liquefied subsoil was measured. As a result, the numerical method is found to qualitatively reproduce the time history of flow velocity of liquefied subsoil. There still, however, remains a room for further model improvement to reproduce the final configuration of ground surface.
