The phenomenon of liquefaction is one of the most important subjects in earthquake engineering. A finite element and finite difference (FEM-FDM) coupled numerical method for liquefaction analysis of a fluid-saturated ground is firstly presented; the accuracy of the proposed numerical method is then addressed through a comparison of the numerical results and the analytical solutions; and finally, the applicability of the proposed numerical method to several examples is examined. -Authors
