Dr. Wai Hong Leong is currently affiliated with Algal Bio Co., Ltd., an algae-based biotechnology startup venture based off from the University of Tokyo, Japan as a researcher. His research interests are primarily in the field of environmental sciences particularly in microalgae biotechnology, carbon capture, biological water and wastewater treatment, biomass conversion and biorefinery processes, and life cycle assesment. He has published over 30+ scientific journal articles (90% ranked in ISI Q1 journals) and his current h-index is 16 and i-10 index is 19 with 1,500+ citations in the research field related to microalghae biotechnology. He is also an active reviewer in various high impact journals including Environmental Pollution, Separation and Purification Technology, Bioresource Technology, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Fuel, Journal of the Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers, Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Scientific Reports (Nature), Journal of Molecular Liquids and Heliyon.
