The present authors had proposed a K-braced frame with shear resistance member made of ordinary steel as a hysteretic damper. In this paper, to investigate restoring force characteristics of shear resistance member under cyclic loading such as a seismic response, we introduced the elasto-plastic finite element method using constitutive equation with isotropic-kinematic hardening rule. Accuracy and validity of the method were examined by analyses on loading tests of shear resistance member. Then, elasto-plastic analyses on shear resistance member under cyclic loading were performed using the present method. The analysis results showed that the elasto-plastic behavior, especially the strength and plastic strain distribution, of shear resistance member under cyclic loading could be predicted by the present method.
