Yasue Horiuchi, Ph.D.,CGC. is a Professor of the Shizuoka Graduate University of Public Health. Her area of research interest lies in the field of clinical genetics, personalized medicine, genetic counseling, and comprehending the intricate molecular mechanisms of mental illnesses. She is graduate from University of Tsukuba and earned Ph.D. of Medicine with a specialization in Medical Genetics. After the clinical and basic research training at the Tsukuba University, the Keio University, and the Johns Hopkins University, she acquired official certification as a genetic counselor in Japan. Her exceptional knowledge and proficiency in the field have led her to assume the role of country representative for the Professional Society for Genetic Counseling in Asia (PSGCA), as well as the Chair of the International Committee for the Japanese Society for Genetic Counseling. Furthermore, Dr. Horiuchi actively participates in clinical practice as a certified genetic counselor, while also contributing to the training program for aspiring genetic counselors. As the field of genomic medicine advances, there is a growing need for genetic counseling in Japan. Driven by this demand, she endeavors to play a proactive role in the realm of clinical genetic counseling within the country.
