After getting PhD degree on DNA replication in a bacterial broad host range plasmid, I started to work on molecular biology of mushrooms especially wood-rotting fungi, such as Pleurotus ostreatus and Ceriporiopsis subvermispora. Along with colleagues, we developed genetic transformation, recombinant gene expression, gene knock out and so on. We intend to elucidate molecular mechanisms for unique properties in mushrooms and apply them for a sustainable human life and ecosystems.
