Dr. Yosuke Baba is an Associate Professor at Juntendo University Faculty of Medicine, specializing in Pediatrics, Allergy, and Immunology. He serves as the attending physician and Chief of the Department of Pediatrics at Juntendo University Shizuoka Hospital. His clinical and research focus is on pediatric allergies and immunological disorders.

Dr. Baba obtained his medical degree from Tokai University School of Medicine, Japan, and later earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Graduate School of Medicine at Juntendo University. He is a certified pediatrician and allergist, known for his extensive expertise and contributions to his field.

During his tenure at the Department of Pediatrics at Juntendo University, Dr. Baba worked under the guidance of Professors Yoshikazu Ohtsuka and Toshiaki Shimizu, where he engaged in research focused on mucosal immunology and other related areas. He is renowned for his studies on gene expression related to the onset of allergies, particularly involving the IL-33 receptor. Recently, his research has centered on mucosal immunology in relation to Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES) and epidemiological surveys.

Dr. Baba has been actively engaged in numerous research projects, including studies funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on the functional analysis of mast cells in the mucosa of Acute FPIES. He is also involved in research funded by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, such as the Fujisawa group’s project on “Developing Guidelines for the Management and Operation of Children with Allergic Diseases in Schools and Nurseries,” and a study on the prevention of severe exacerbations of pediatric bronchial asthma during disasters, supported by the Japan Private School Promotion Foundation.

In addition to his clinical and research roles, Dr. Baba is a delegate of the Japan Pediatric Society, the Japanese Society of Allergology, and the Japanese Society of Pediatric Allergy and Clinical Immunology, where he serves as a member of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Committee and Editorial Committee.
