Yuga KURODA

Born in January 1980 in Oyabe City, Toyama Prefecture. He specialises in the history of medieval Spanish-Mediterranean exchange.

He aims to bridge the gap between Islamic history and Western history.
Until now, he has attempted to examine the history of the so-called 'Reconquista' in the medieval Iberian Peninsula, in particular from the viewpoint of the frontier society of the Kingdom of Castile. Now, he is focusing on the "Medieval Western Mediterranean Sea Area" including the Iberian Peninsula, and on investigating political, cultural and interreligious exchanges within this sea area.
He is also interested in the relationship between the media information on Islam in contemporary Spain (especially in Andalusia) and the contact between different religions, cultures and civilizations, regardless of region or period.

He has worked as an research assistant at the Faculty of Letters, Arts and Sciences, Waseda University, as a Research Fellow (PD) of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, as an associate professor at the Faculty of Humanities, Shinshu University, and as an associate professor at the Department of Spanish, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Kanagawa University.
